Let’s Party: Book Launch for A Flash of Red

I am thrilled to be partnering with a true community institution in State College, PA, for my Book Launch party later this week. Webster’s Bookstore & Cafe has provided books, conversation, and camaraderie to downtown State College since 1974. Their store features new and used books across all genres while also providing exposure to local authors in the State College area. Their cafe features fair-trade, organic coffees and their milk comes from our own local dairy, Meyer’s Dairy. A variety of vegan, gluten-free, and made-from-scratch options, both sweet and savory, are available as well, which means you can get a barista-styled cappuccino, a delish scone or sandwich, and sit down in their cafe to read you newest literary discovery (or an old favorite).

In other words, Webster’s is a very special store indeed, and I am so proud to have them host my Book Launch Party. Hope to see you there!

Mindsoak: #Fangirl for Perseverance

A new year, a new set of essays for Mindsoak. This year, we are working to organize our essays on particular themes for each month. January’s was–spoiler alert!–about change and renewal. 🙂

I decided to write about Grit and the need to revisit our past goals in lieu of starting an entirely new journey. The fact that it gave me a chance to fan-girl over Angela Lee Duckworth’s research was just a bonus.

You can read the entire essay here.

Curious about Duckworth’s revolutionary work? Her TED talk has almost 10 million views, for good reason. Find out what all the fuss is about below:
